Sue (Chambers) Foster Obituary

Sue Carol “Chambers” Foster, 88, of Charlestown, IN, formerly of Glenview, IL, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on March 6, 2026, at her home, ending her courageous battle with dementia. Sue was born July 17, 1937, in Hornersville, MO, to Pauline “Smith” and Roy Chambers. She was the oldest of six children and proudly embraced her role as big sister to Shirlè, Shelia “Chick,” Sharon, Sandi, and Ronald.

At five years old, Sue and her family moved to Muncie, IN, and later settling in Cowan, where she graduated from Cowan High School in 1955. After graduation, she moved to Indianapolis to begin her working career at RCA. It was during this time that she began dating the love of her life, Lee Foster. They were married on April 19, 1958, at Cowan Christian Church, beginning a partnership that lasted more than 60 years. Sue and Lee moved to Chicago, IL, where Sue began a long and successful career with Benefit Trust Life, later known as Trustmark.

They welcomed two children, Gary Dwayne and Samantha Lee, and built a life full of family, hard work, and community. Sue retired in 1998. Anyone who knew Sue knew that she was the life of every gathering. A true socialite with an infectious spirit, she spent many weeknights bowling and playing softball with coworkers, building lifelong friendships along the way. Later in life, she continued sharing her love of people and celebration as the activities director for her neighborhood in North Fort Myers, FL. A “hostess with the mostess,” Sue loved entertaining—especially at the family cottage on Big Turkey Lake in Stroh, IN, where holidays and summer weekends were filled with laughter, card games, and memories that will be cherished forever. Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Lee, and her son, Gary; her parents and in-laws; her siblings Shirlè, Shelia “Chick”, and Ronald; and five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Chris Grimm, and her cherished granddaughters, Molly and Abigail Grimm.

Sue leaves behind her sisters, Sharon Murrin and Sandi Zvanut, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless friends she loved as family. She is also survived by her adored “grand fur-babies,” Chesney and Dallas, “Mr. Black,” who brought her comfort and joy during her final years. Sue will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, her boundless energy, and her unwavering ability to make every person she met feel welcomed and celebrated. Her legacy lives on in the stories shared, the traditions carried forward, and the love she poured into those fortunate enough to know her.

A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams, Muncie, Indiana. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 am until the time of the service on Saturday.
