Thomas Edgar Cousert, 97, of Yorktown, Indiana, passed away on April 12, 2025, at his residence in Yorktown.
He was born on August 7, 1927, to Charles and Lettie Mae (Hutchinson) Cousert.
Tom was a longtime member and deacon at True Light Baptist Church. He was deeply devoted to his family and church community. He had a lifelong love of antique clocks and enjoyed collecting them. His hobbies also included gardening—especially growing tomatoes—reading, and watching Westerns. He and his beloved wife enjoyed traveling, often taking road trips together, including a memorable drive to Mexico City.
Professionally, Tom worked as a welder and hand-painted pinstripes at Chrysler. He later served as a USDA meat inspector for 30 years. A proud veteran, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in Japan. He graduated from Mackey High School in 1945.
Thomas is survived by his daughter, Barbara Buck; grandson, Nathan Buck (Cari); granddaughter, Marinda Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Carson Millspaugh, Dane Buck, Michael Carpenter, and Madelyn Carpenter; sister-in-law, Bonnie Cousert; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lettie Mae Cousert; his wife of 67 years, Imogene Cousert; son-in-law, Danny Buck; brothers, Otis, Paul, and Earl Cousert; and sisters-in-law, Girly and Maxine Cousert.
Funeral services will be held at True Light Bapist Church in Muncie on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. until service time at 5:00 p.m. Additional visitation will then be held at Mt. Tabor Church in Princeton, IN on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
