Thomas Wayne “Tom” Guise, 72, passed away on April 9, 2026, after a short illness.

In his younger years, Tom farmed and raised hogs, developing a strong work ethic that carried throughout his life. He later worked for Pioneer Seed Corn, Flora Seeds, and Caterpillar, and eventually retired from Save A Lot in Yorktown, Indiana.

Never one to sit still, Tom and his wife, Linda, started a lawn mower sales and repair business that served customers across several counties. Known for his remarkable skill and intuition, many fondly referred to him as “the lawnmower whisperer” for his ability to diagnose and fix even the toughest problems.

Tom was also deeply involved in local sports. He umpired baseball games for many years, working with Little League, junior high, and senior high school teams throughout Indiana. He had a passion for the game and for supporting young athletes.

Tom had a deep love for animals and a passion for serving his community. For nearly 20 years, he operated and ran the Flora Little League program. He cherished working with young players, watching them grow and improve, and took great pride in supporting the league and its families. He also coached his own son, Dustin, in the sport. In recognition of his dedication and service, Tom received a special award from the organization.

Tom is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Linda, with whom he recently celebrated 25 years of marriage; his son, Dustin Guise of Lebanon; his daughter, Jennifer Watts of Muncie; his brother, Chris Guise (wife, Jodie) of Lafayette; his brothers-in-law, Phillip Jester (wife, Penelope) and Jack Jester (wife, Kelley); his beloved dog companion, Sophie; and his grandchildren, Josie Guise and Wyatt Guise, both of Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Watts; his sisters, Susan Null and Martha Bowyer; his brother,  James Paul Guise; and his brothers-in-law, Mike Jester (wife, Susan) and David Jester (wife, June).

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Cemetery.
