Thomas M. Jordan

Dr. Thomas M. Jordan, 73, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 7, 2021, at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  He was born on December 31, 1947 in Crawfordsville, Indiana the son of Morris B. and Edith (Scherer) Jordan.

Tom graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1965 and earned his under graduate degree from Indiana State University.  He eventually earned his Masters and Doctorate Degrees from Oklahoma State University.  He served in the U.S. Army as a Sargent during the Vietnam War Era having been stationed mostly at The Pentagon.    Eventually Dr. Jordan served on the faculty of Ball State University as a Professor in Physics and Astronomy for 35 years prior to his retirement in 2016.  Tom married the love of his life Teresa (Wrightsman) Jordan on June 30, 1968 in Judson, Indiana and she survives.  He was a member of the American Astronomical Society and American Physics Society.  He enjoyed participating with the comradery at the Morning Tillotson McDonalds Breakfast Club.

Besides his wife of 52 years, Teresa, he is survived by one son, Christopher Jordan (significant other-Dusty DeVoss), Parker City; one daughter, Cecilie Nunn (husband-Doug), Noblesville; two grandsons, Logan Nunn, Fishers and Brian Nunn, Chattanooga, Tennessee; one sister, Sondra Fish, Irvine, California; several nieces and nephews.      

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Cecil Jordan and one sister, Ann Jordan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021, 1:00 p.m.  at Parson Mortuary Cremation Center with Pastor Ben Lane and Father Coady Owens officiating.  Burial will follow at the Black Cemetery.  Military Honors will be rendered by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
