Tracey Kay Vance
October 12, 1965 – September 12, 2025
Born on October 12, 1965, in Muncie to the late Patricia Kay (Beadle) Stewart and Myron Timmons, Tracey graduated from Muncie Central High School. She built her career as a hairstylist throughout the Muncie area, working at Ronnie’s Hair Co., Procuts, and Great Clips on Tillotson Avenue. She had an incredible gift for making people feel beautiful and confident. When disability ended her traditional employment over ten years ago, she continued cutting hair from home and traveling to clients until she physically couldn’t anymore.
Tracey was a devoted single mother who poured everything into raising her children and grandchildren. After beating stage 3B colon cancer, she celebrated her recovery with an unforgettable family trip to North Carolina, where she conquered her fears and went parasailing, creating one of her most treasured memories.
Family meant everything to Tracey. One of her fondest memories was visiting her son and other family in Missouri including her lifelong best friend Janet James. She also dearly loved staying close to her beloved Aunt Linda Ostrum in Greenfield, who was like a second mother to her. In her final year, she grew closer to her brother Randy Reagon and found comfort in the loving care of her cousin Jason Fletcher, who lived with her and provided compassionate, devoted care during her most difficult time.
Tracey faced heartbreaking losses throughout her life, including her stillborn son Justin Vance, her beloved son Joseph “Joey” Vance (2023), her father Myron Timmons (2009), and her mother Patricia Kay Stewart (2016). For over a decade, she battled nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which eventually caused liver and kidney failure. Though her body grew weak, her spirit stayed strong as she fought for her family until the very end.
Tracey is survived by her children Joshua Vance Sr. and Heaven-Leigh (Chelsey) Bennett; grandchildren Maycee, Taylor, Ryan, Jaydyn, Haylee, Jordyn, Joshua Jr., Tristan, Tanner, Rylee, and Zydyn; siblings Troy (Carly) Reagon, Randy (Monica) Reagon, and Renee Timmons; cousin and caregiver Jason Fletcher; aunt Linda Ostrum; best friend Janet James; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
Following Tracey’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 12, 2025, for Tracey’s 60th birthday at Morrow’s Meadows in Yorktown from 2–4 p.m., with a balloon release. A GoFundMe is available to help with travel expenses while dealing with all of her final needs in her passing. Her legacy lives on through her generosity, strength, and unconditional love: a woman who always gave her best, even when she had little left to give.
