Velma Hartman

Velma Hartman was born August 11, 1947, 76, the daughter of Henry F. Mays and Nellie (Gardner) Mays. Velma passed at home with her loving family surrounding her on May 19, 2023. It is with great sadness that we have to announce her recent departure to cancer.

Velma was a stay-at-home mother until her kids were raised, she then worked for Ball Memorial Hospital for 15 years until retiring. She moved to Florida with her loving husband Robert Hartman, she then worked for Pall aero power corporation from 2001 to 2009, and after retiring she moved back to Muncie, she loved her hometown.

Velma had a large loving family; several brothers and sisters, Gloria Willis, Darlene Benton, Henry Mays, Kathy Brannon (Denny), Janese Gonzales (Tony), Junior Hankey, Betty Silvers, Roy Hankey, and Chet Hankey.

Velma met the love of her life Robert C. Hartman at 14 and married on November 16, 1961, she loved Robert to her last breath. They had five children; Robert C Hartman (Rachel), Henry F. Hartman, Kenneth Hartman (Joelle Seckley) Lisha Hartman (Eugene L. Hahn), and Douglas Hartman (Lucinda), also 10 amazing grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Velma is preceded by; son Henry Hartman, 2 granddaughters, Angela Hartman and Paige Ann Hartman, and son-in-law Eugene Hahn. 

Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Visitation begins at 10 am until service time at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery.
