Viola Eileen (Mock) McCartney

Viola E. McCartney, 84, Went to her heavenly home Thursday afternoon, October 12, 2023, at her home following an extended illness surrounded by her family.  She was born on July 29, 1939, in Muncie the daughter of Harold and Elizabeth (Fleming) Mock.

Viola graduated from Muncie Community Schools and later married the love of her life Jimmie McCartney on November 9, 1957, in Muncie and he survives.  Mrs. McCartney became a homemaker and was attending the Tabernacle of Praise Church.   She was known to be quite the artist specializing in painting and was very imaginative taking various objects and making something out of nothing.  Mrs. McCartney also enjoyed knitting and doing crochet work.  Mostly, Viola treasured being with her family!

Besides her husband of almost 67 years, Jimmie, she is survived by four children, Pamela Young (Don), Timothy McCartney (Kathy) both of Muncie, Daniel McCartney (Sarah), Yorktown, and Lisa Walters (Dave) Selma; one sister, Judy Ritchie “Buster” (Gailand), Muncie area; one brother-in-law, Harold Gill, Muncie; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one infant son, Joseph McCartney; her parents; one sister, Virginia Gill; and one brother, John Russell.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at Parson Mortuary with Pastor John M. Tyner officiating.  Burial will follow at the Yorktown Cemetery in Yorktown, Indiana. 

Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 12:00 P.M.  until the time of service.
