Wilma Fay (Phipps) Hughes

Wilma F.  Hughes, 80, went to her heavenly home early Friday evening, January 7, 2022, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  She was born on August 31, 1941 in Monticello, Kentucky, the daughter of Millard and Mamer (Gregory)Phipps.

Wilma married the love of her life, Ronald E. Hughes on November 25, 1959 and he survives.   Mrs.  Hughes had worked as a Medical Billing Agent with various medical offices in Muncie retiring in 2008 after 40 years of service.  She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge #231 and enjoyed bowling in various leagues.  Mrs. Hughes coached Junior Bowling Leagues for several years.  Wilma treasured the times she could spend with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren especially, following their sporting events.

Besides her husband of 62 years, Ronald, she is survived by her sons, Michael Hughes (Shell) and Ronald Hughes, Jr. (Trysh), both of Muncie and Kenny Hughes (Carla), Elizabethtown, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Kent, Samantha, Chelsey, Amanda and Perry; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Melinda Winters, Muncie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 7 siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, 1:00 P.M. at Parson Mortuary with Rev.  Jeff Phipps officiating.  Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 12:00 P.M.  until time of service at 1:00 P.M.
