Barbara Friend

Muncie-Barbara A. Friend, 57, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, at her residence following a brief illness.  She was born on August 27, 1960, in Muncie, the daughter of Daniel Luyet and Marilyn (Smith) Deckard.

                Barbara is a 1978 graduate of Muncie Central High School and later attended Ball State University for two years.   Ms. Friend had been a homemaker.  She enjoyed writing poetry and reading but, mostly she enjoyed being with her family.    She grew up in the home of her maternal grandparents, Charles and Hilda Smith.

                Survivors include; four daughters, LaRissa McCord, Laura Parks, both of Muncie, Jerrica McCord, Kentucky and Siara Friend, Indianapolis; four sons, Stephen Nipper, Zachary Friend, both of Muncie, Kahlyb Friend (wife-Jennifer), Georgetown, Kentucky and Dakota Williams, Greenville, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Jordan, Lindsey, Brooklyn, Julian, Lilliana, Shelbee, Makahlya, Kahlyb, Jr., Charles, August, Anthony and Zandon; her mother; Marilyn Deckard, one sister, Pamela Norris (husband-Richard), Muncie.

                She was preceded in death by; one brother, Wesley Reagan, her father, and maternal grandparents.

                Cremation is taking place.   A private family memorial gathering will take place at a later date. Parson Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
