Byron L. Bird

Byron L. Bird, 80, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion, Indiana, where he had resided for the last 50 years.

He was born November 19, 1937 in Union City, Indiana, the son of Lucille E. (Ford) Bird and Allen L. Bird.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and had worked at the Nickel-Plate Railroad.  Both of his brothers also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by his brother, Timothy J. Bird, Swansea, Illinois; his sister, Karen A. Bird, Greenwood, Indiana; four nieces, Kimberly A. Bennett, Amy Schembra, Monica Walker, and Angela Wolf; two nephews, Timothy A. Bird, and Daniel Bird.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Theodore A. Bird.

Services will be held at Parson Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018.  Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.

Calling will be at Parson Mortuary from 11:00 a.m. on Friday until the time of service.
