Thomas Ray Batt

Muncie-Thomas R. Batt, 63, died at 3:22 a.m. Friday morning, November 30, 2018, at the Signature Healthcare of Muncie.  He was born in Muncie on January 29, 1955 to William and Twilla (Cannaday)  Batt.

Tom was a 1973 graduate of Muncie Central High School.  His first work experience was with Burger Chef (now Hardee’s) before starting a career of over 40 years with the Pepsi Beverages Company of Muncie.  Tom formerly attended Memorial Drive Wesleyan Church.  His love for sports included baseball, softball, bowling and basketball, which he enjoyed at the Muncie Pal Club, then playing on the Bearcat baseball team, and finally in church league and industrial league softball.  He especially savored beating his little sister at miniature golf.  Tom loved family.  He was uncharacteristically animated when the house was full of family and friends, whether for Sunday lunch or a holiday or just a bunch of guys over to watch the game.

He is survived by two children, Lindsey Batt, Anderson and one son, Dustin Ray Batt, Indianapolis; two sisters, Sandra Kay Wheat, Middletown and Pamela Sue Cole (Wesley), Wabash; his brother, Danny Michael Batt (Jerilyn), Muncie, sister-in-law, Karen Batt, Muncie, several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Joseph Eugene, Beverly Jean, and Wilbur Jean Batt.

Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Parson Mortuary with Dr. Dale Wheeler officiating.   Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Eaton, Indiana.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p., on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Parson Mortuary and again on Wednesday morning December 5, 2019, from 9:00. am. until service time.
