Edward James Newby, Jr., 72, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2022, at the Peabody Retirement Center of North Manchester, Indiana following an extended illness. He was born on September 30, 1949 in Winchester, Kentucky the son of Edward James and Julia (Boyd) Newby, Sr.
Edward graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1967 and later married the love of his life, Rosemary (Massengale) Newby on February 14, 1994 and she preceded him in death in 2013. Mr. Newby had honorably served in the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam War Era and later worked as a professional car salesman for Gaddis Chrysler in Muncie for 17 years prior to his disability. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Selma American Legion Post.
Survivors include one step daughter, Amy Long (Rob), Parker City; one grandson, Brogan Long, Parker City: three sisters, Cheryl Ashcraft (Bearl) and Judy Jackson (Joe), both of Winchester, Kentucky and Tenna Nicely (Jerry), Roanoke; three brothers, Kiayam Ginter, John Ginter (Angie) and Tony Ginter, all of Winchester, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife of twent eight years, Rosemary, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael “Shane” Newby in 2001; his parents; one brother, Roy Ginter, Jr.
Cremation is being done with a Memorial Service to be held at Parson Mortuary on Saturday, May 21, 2022, 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Jerry Bowlin officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Delaware County Honor Guard. Private inurnment will take place a later date at the Union Eaton Cemetery.
