Linda Pettiford Obituary

Linda Mae Pettiford, age 71, passed away at her home surrounded by family.  Linda was born July 24, 1951, in Imperial, Nebraska, the daughter of Kenneth Frame and Charlotte Painter. 

She attended local schools including Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska.  She obtained her LPN license and worked at area hospitals in Nebraska.  However, what she was best known for was being a Foster Mom.  From 1996 to 2010 Linda fostered more than 15 children, adopting and raising several.  As her daughter, Jennifer Corbin stated, “if it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t be here today.”  She had an unwavering love for her children, and would give everything she had to help someone, but was quick to express her opinion.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, coloring, and video games.  She was married to Quentin Pettiford for 38 years.

Linda is survived by her husband Quentin, Daughters; Katherine LeAnn Turner (Steven), Jennifer Corbin (Dean), Michelle (Angel) Lane Pettiford-Hinton (Robert), sons; Kenneth Paul Atkin (Erin), Michael Vernon Atkin (Susie), Robert Abdalla Pettiford, William Joseph Pettiford (Amy), and Mareus Aiden Pettiford.  In addition, she is survived by 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, special family, and friends.

Linda was proceeded in death by her parents, a son, William Glen Atkin, a great grandbaby, Miracle W. a brother, Allen Bybee, and a sister Janet Bybee.
