Rev. Donald Ray Scott

Reverend Donald Ray Scott, 92, of Muncie, Indiana passed away on June 13, 2022. Don was born on January 24, 1930, the son of the late Kenneth and Rosanna Scott.

Don was a graduate of Royerton High School, Purdue University, and Oberlin Theological Seminary. He was ordained into the Church Ministry in 1956 at Eden United Church of Christ (UCC): Florence Congregational UCC, Florence, OH; Lake Fork UCC, Atwood, IL; Pierson Station UCC, Hammond, IL; Mt. Union UCC, Everett, PA; Clearville UCC, Clearville, PA; Hagerstown UCC, Hagerstown, IN and Living Waters, Schellsburg, PA. He was a staff member at Illinois and Penn West Conferences of the United Church of Christ.

Don was joined in his ministry by his beloved wife, the late Sue Carol (Proudfoot). They were married on June 22, 1952, in Muncie and went on to raise 8 children: Jerry (Brenda) Scott, Albert Lea, MN; Ann (Harold Jr.) Cornell, Sharpsburg, MD; Ken (Sue) Scott, Rockaway, NJ; Barry (Shannon) Scott, Manchester, MO; Bob (Julie) Scott, Albany, IN; Ed (Julie) Proudfoot, Merrillville, IN; Jim (Sarah) Proudfoot, Brownsburg, IN; Tony (Natalie) Proudfoot, Kalamazoo, MI; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Tom Scott, Ted Scott, and Mary Ellen Echols.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 1400 West Riverside Ave, Muncie. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour before the service. Burial will be private at Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to our church or charity of choice.
