john M. Gibbs

John M. Gibbs, 69, passed away late Friday evening, April 2, 2021 at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  He was born on January 24, 1952 in Maryville, Tennessee the son of Will and Barbara (Brown) Brinker.

John graduated from Cowan High School in 1970 and later married the love of his life, Dawn (Paynter) Gibbs on April 30, 1983 and she survives.  Mr. Gibbs had honorable served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and later worked for GKN Aero Space in both the Chemical Mills and Waste water Depts.  for 45 years prior to his retirement in 2020.  He enjoyed fishing, collecting beagles and elephants statues and NASCAR, and followed Dale Earnhardt Jr. 

Besides his wife of 37 years, Dawn, he is survived by his son, Clint Gibbs, (Lacey), Muncie; step Dad, Will Brinker, Muncie; his blue tick beagle buddy Abby.

He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother, Tom Gibbs; two sisters, Trina VanPelt and Tammy Harnish.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021, 4:00 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Steve St. John officiating.  The family has chosen cremation to follow.  Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with these arrangements.   The Delaware County Honor Guard will be rendering Military Honors.

Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Friday, April 9, 2021, from 2:00 P.M.  until time of service.
