Jack G. Skinner

February 2, 1931 ~ January 4, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

                Yorktown- Jack G. Skinner, 85, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 4, 2017, at the Yorktown Manor Health Care Center following an extended illness. He was born on, February 2, 1931, in Muncie, the son of George and Louise Skinner.

                Jack attended Yorktown High School and later married the love of his life, Roberta (Humes) Skinner on January 2, 1948 in Jeffersonville, Indiana and she preceded him in death in November of 2016. Mr. Skinner owned and operated the Skinner Tune- Up and Air Conditioning for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1994.    He had attended the Yorktown Christian Church years ago, was a 50 years member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, Scottish rite, the Yorktown American Legion, the Elk Lodge, Eagle Lodge, and was a 1978 member of the Independent Garage Owners Association of Indiana, Inc.  He enjoyed boating, flying, working in his yard and working on his John Deere tractor.

             He is survived by two sons, Gary Skinner (wife-Sherry), Anderson and David Skinner (wife-Betty), Muncie; one daughter, Becky Skinner Tungate (husband-Bobby), New Castle; eight grandchildren, Gary Skinner, Jr., Cathy Skinner, Bobby Tungate II, Kimberly Levers (husband-Jim), Amy Hamm (husband-Jacob), Michelle Crabtree (husband- Darrell), David R. Skinner and Chad D. Skinner; twenty two great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; one sister, Sandy Jensma, Yorktown.

                Besides his wife of 69 years, Roberta, he is preceded in death by an infant son Bobby and one sister, Katherine Northcutt.

Graveside services will be held on Monday January 8, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at the Yorktown Cemetery with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. 

                Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of East Central Indiana, Inc. (Little Red Door) 2311 W. Jackson St. Muncie, IN 47303.

                A special thank you goes to the Hospice Staff and the Staff of the Yorktown Manor Health Care Center for all their wonderful care for both Mom and Dad during their time of convalesce.
