Sherman Nelson Brown, 90
MUNCIE – Sherman Nelson Brown, 90, Muncie, went to be with his savior Monday, September 26, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 12, 1926 in Mt. Pisgah, Kentucky, the son of the late Maynard and Ida (Davis) Brown. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. After the war he moved to Indiana and on March 17, 1945 he married the love of his life, and his wife of 71 years, Jewell (Hurt) Brown, who survives. Sherman was employed at Warner Gear for 42 years before his retirement. He was a 49 year member of the Free Masons; he was also a member of the Bethel United Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Jewell Brown; two daughters, Tonya Stewart; and Wanda Watters, (husband-Haston); son, Phil Brown, (wife-Debbie); two sisters, Fern Eckel; and Ather Hurt; five grandchildren, Troy Watters; Jason Watters, (wife-Erica); Justin Brown, (wife-Kimber); Kate Brown; and Levi Stewart; ten great-grandchildren; and an uncle, Clyde Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Mason Stewart; two brothers, Roy Brown; and John Brown; and two sisters, Angie Crabtree; and Louise brown.
Services will be held at Parson Mortuary at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 with Pastor Brandon Petro officiating. There will be a Mason’s service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery with full military honors.
Friends may visit at the mortuary from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of service.
