Valdosta, GA. - William C. Curtis, 67, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
William was born in Muncie, Indiana on January 16, 1949 to the late Samuel C. and Louise (Carmichael) Curtis.
He graduated from Southside High School. William served in the United States Marine Corp and the United States Air Force for 22 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 46 and past president of the Misawa Shrine Club. He was vice president of the Muncie police and fire commission. William worked for the Delaware Highway Department and was the president of the Delaware County Police Reserves and was a part of the Eaton Reserves. He was also a personnel manager for Exide. William was a member of the American Legion post 13 and the Elks Lodge 728 in Valdosta, GA. He was a past member of the VFW, Moose, and Eagles.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
William is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Curtis of Valdosta, GA; son, William C. Curtis II and his wife, Donna of Yorktown, IN; daughter, Tammy Elliott and her husband, Joe of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren, Ryan Curtis, Taylor Elliott, Reece Curtis, David Weist, Dalton Weist, Presley Curtis; siblings, Sammy Curtis, Steve Curtis, Floyd Curtis, Wanda Curtis, Glenda Curtis; best friend, Piere; Several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with a Masonic service at 7 P.M.
Services will be Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 1 P.M. at the mortuary with Pastor’s Scott Turner, Gene McComas, and Rory Bond officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana.
