Archie Rex Downham

October 27, 1931 ~ May 19, 2012 (age 80) 80 Years Old
          Muncie-Archie Rex Downham, 80, passed away Saturday morning, May 19, 2012, at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on October 27, 1931, in Muncie, the son of Lexie Sr. and Hazel Junita (Metzcar) Downham.
            Archie married the love of his life, Arlenia Elizabeth (Schafstall) Downham on February 1, 1957 in Muncie and she survives. He had worked for Marsh Super Markets for 6 years as a Driver prior to that he had been a self employed truck driver and also drove for Renners Express at one point.   Mr. Downham had served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict as an Airman 2nd Class. He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 651, the American Legion Post #19, and Yorktown Christian Church. Archie was a 32nd Degree Mason with a Masonic Temple in Indianapolis, a member of the Scottish rite and also a Teamster. Mr. Downham enjoyed rebuilding cars, racing and fishing trips to Canada.  
            Besides his wife of 55 years, Arlenia, he is survived by two daughters, Darlenia Cooper (friend-Jeff Donovan), and Carlenia Norrick (friend-Misty Harris) both of Muncie; two sons, Darrell Downham, Pompano Beach, Florida and Alan Ray Downham (wife-Debbie), Muncie; eight grandchildren, Rene’, Shawn, Matthew, Christy, Rex, Tiffany, Chris, and Angie; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Dolores Kramer (husband-Bruce), Huntington Beach, Florida and Tanya Reed (husband-Jerry) Muncie; several nieces and nephews; His pet dog, Rex.
            He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lexie Downham Jr. and Donnie Downham and one infant sister.
            Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, 1:00P.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Garry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory north of Muncie. Military Honors will be provided by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
            Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. and again on Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time.
