Tonya Denise Friend, 53

            MUNCIE – Tonya Denise Friend, 53, Muncie, passed away at her residence early Wednesday morning, April 20, 2016 with her husband and daughter by her side.

            She was born July 25, 1962 in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of the late Harold Dean and Monna Retta (Barton) Gregory.  Tonya grew up in Muncie and was a 1980 graduate of Delta High School.  She had worked for 17 years at General Motors in Muncie and was a member of Local 499.  She was the Vice President of Seville Senior Citizens and loved her time that she spent there.

            Tonya loved to cook and having cookouts on the Holidays with her family was a must.  She always took control of the television making sure not to miss an episode of her favorite television show “The Last Frontier”.  Most of all Tonya loved spending time with her husband Lonn and her daughter Cortney.  Tonya cherished every second she spent with her very special granddaughter Harper. 

            Left to cherish Tonya’s memories are her husband, Lonn Friend; daughter, Cortney Harris (Joshua Parks); granddaughter, Harper Parks; brother, Dee Gregory (Karen Clark); uncle, Nick Barton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Sharon Friend; two brother-in-laws, Tony and Ryan Friend; two sister-in-laws, Kim Friend, and Christine (Waylon) McElyea; and several cousins and special friends.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Monna Gregory; and a son, Chad Harris.

            Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating.  Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.   

Visitation will be at Parson Mortuary on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday.
